The hippies were strong fighters for change.  Their movement appeared strange to those on the outside.  These was predominately because of their unconventional practices.  Alan Watts a British writer is known for introducing Eastern philosophy to the west.  His views were also part of the movement.  Eastern practices were an important part of the hippie society.  They believed that in order for war to stop they was a need for change.  You will be ridiculed, for being part of a movement different from the norm.
